MUNDARING TWILIGHT MARKET

A hugely successful twilight market was held in Mundaring on a recent Saturday evening. The event was a collaboration between the Mundaring branch of the Bendigo Bank, the Shire of Mundaring and the Rotary Club of Mundaring, along with a lot of help from the Mundaring Hotel.

The days leading up to the night were stormy and bleak, but on the evening there was only a bit (quite a bit actually) of wind to contend with. Full marks to the stallholders and patrons who had faith and turned up in spite of the grey skies and wind!

There were a large variety of food stalls available to choose from and they were all well patronised. However the capacity crowd meant long lines at these venues and many opted to take the short walk to the Mundaring shopping precinct for their food and refreshment… An absolute bonus for our town. Ordinary stallholders also did brisk business on the night and patrons had a lot of variety to choose from, there being about 150 stalls at the market.

The two photos above show a portion of the crowd in the Jacoby St section of the event and a section set up for us by the Mundaring Hotel to allow the weary to rest tired feet and to relax for a while.

Thanks are due to the bank and the shire for their sponsorship and for organising a gang of volunteers (including members of the Mundaring football club) who helped with the massive task of setting up and dismantling the event. Thanks also to the twenty Rotary club members who were heavily involved on the day and night.
