Our President - David Cockman

Already a quarter of the Rotary year has gone and I am still coming to terms with the contribution that members of the club put in to make the Mundaring Club successful.

The Mundaring Rotary Sunday Markets popularity is steadily increasing in terms of stall holders and the attendance of the general public with a great variety of goods on offer. If you have a few free hours and would like a nice drive into the hills, the markets are on the second Sunday of each month from 9am – 3pm.

Interested in having a stall at our markets? (click here) for details.

Did you know that the Rotary Club of Mundaring is a major supporter of “ShelterBox”, a Rotary initiative to supply emergency accommodation when natural disasters occur anywhere in the world? These units can provide accommodation for up to 10 individuals and are complete with all the cooking essentials, water purification tablets and tools to enable people to survive until more permanent accommodation becomes available. Many of these units were sent to Victoria after the bush fire left many people homeless and thousands have been used throughout the world to assist people unfortunate enough to be victims of natural disasters. Each unit costs $1200.00 and if you would like to learn more. (click here)

The Mundaring Club is also involved in many programmes like RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) for people aged 18 - 26, RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment) for people aged 14 – 17 and Youth Exchange Program (where students can live and go to school in another country for a year). If your child or any young adult is interested in any of these programs further details are available by clicking on the link (click here).

Have you ever thought of becoming involved in your local community and be a part of a worldwide organisation that prides itself on “service above self” by raising funds to help those less fortunate in society. How can I, as an individual make a difference?  As a member of Rotary you are part of a worldwide organisation that as a collective group can and does make a difference. Most notable of Rotary’s achievement is its Polio Plus programme that has seen polio nearly eradicated in the world. So important is this project Bill Gates of Microsoft fame has donated a large sum of money to ensure this project is bought to a successful and final conclusion. For more information on what Rotary does and what is involved in becoming a member then click on the link. (click here)
