Press release: Shire of Mundaring Christmas Tree
When you hear the first squeals of delight as children prepare to paint the Shire of Mundaring Christmas Tree, you feel the excitement that Christmas is just around the corner.
Artists and volunteers from the Mundaring Arts Centre worked with the students at Treetops Montessori and IB school in Darlington to paint the 300+ canvas leaves for the annual tree, reflecting on the theme Christmas Critters.
Hundreds of individual artworks were created by children from years 1 to 12, displaying their creative interpretation of Christmas and their positive thoughts about the festive season.
The students, passing motorists and the community can now enjoy the collaborative result, with the stunning Christmas tree now proudly standing on Great Eastern Highway outside the Mundaring Shire’s Administration Offices.
This project heralds the beginning of the festive season and celebrates the things that make our community great, with volunteers from Rotary Club of Mundaring, Eastern Hills Saws and Mowers and the Mundaring Arts Centre working together to erect the giant metal frame. The tree has been created with the support of the Shire of Mundaring and the Treetops Montessori and IB school in Darlington, working together to brighten our streetscape and celebrate the artistic expression of our local community’s children.
