President David Waxes Lyrical

The club was well represented at the recent combined clubs District Governor’s visit hosted by the Rotary club of Midland at the Seventh Avenue Tavern.

The Presidents of each club were given five minutes in which to talk of their recent achievements and future plans. President David Cockman looks to be enjoying himself, as he waxes lyrical while explaining the images on a power point presentation covering the exploits of the Mundaring club. The presentation was the work of Larraine Deacon, but the words were David’s and together produced a fast paced, clear, informative and interesting five minutes.

District Governor Angus Buchanan, in his address to the combined clubs, touched upon a number of topics but his salient point was the importance of the role played by individual Rotarians in the local, national and international affairs of Rotary. He emphasised that, while the global picture may seem daunting, acting at a local level will often have a flow-on effect that can change lives in distant places.

His hope for Rotary is that, in one hundred years from now Rotary is not just still here, but that is still here and it is still effective!
